Ros Pears is a Naturopath, Organic Gardener and Permaculture Designer. She worked for 10 years as a Clinical Psychologist in the NHS whilst developing her skills in organic food growing, completing a Permaculture Design Course (1996) and exploring more holistic forms of healing. She has 25 years experience in organic growing of fruit, vegetables and medicinal plants.
Her growing interest in natural approaches to healing and using food as 'medicine' eventually led her to retrain as a Naturopathic Nutritionist. Since 2001 she has run a busy naturopathic practice, teaching a truly holistic therapy that combines natural forms of nutrition with gentle yet powerful naturopathic techniques. This therapy helps the body heal and detoxify, cleansing itself of toxins that may include residues from pesticides used in conventional farming methods. Her emphasis is always on using the simplest, most natural and sustainable of foods and treatment methods, for example using in-season local produce rather than imported exotic berries from the Rain Forest.
She has been involved in sustainable land-use and food producing projects for years. She has run a wholefood co-operative for the past 12 years.
Currently Ros is working to develop a synthesis of Naturopathy, Permaculture and sustainable food growing, creating health promoting landscapes that nourish people and nurture health. She has a particular interest in teaching practical skills in sustainable healthcare and food growing.
